Alpha Demo Update...again?
Hey everyone!
We are proud to announce this version 1.2, an update for the demo of Run! Maybe you've already read the changelog somewhere, but let me refresh your memory:
- Better player handling : few collision bugs were fixed and better choices were made. I hope you'll enjoy it.
- New options menu Ingame : nothing fancy, but you can access the options menu during a game, and game pad rumble can be deactivated.
- Improved graphics : EncreMecanique worked his a** off on this one, and I'm sure you will se the difference, there is a lot of new stuff in the background, on the levels blocks, to make the Run world more "lively" and appealing to the eyes!
- New music tracks!!!! : This time, we can thank Thomas Barrandon for his amazing work on the soundtrack, he doubled the number of tracks and added one for the tutorial. It is really coming along nicely, and seeing "Run Ost" on the zip file he sent me the other day made me realize this project is getting somewhere.
- Brand New tutorial : Yes, even if the controls seems simple, for some players we needed to add this part of the game, that allow you to experience with the player moves without constraint and also serve as an introduction to the game story. I love the mood in there, and I hope the player will return someday in this quiet and peaceful place...
- Unlockable memories? Well, it's not really new, it was already there in the previous demo. But we worked hard to make it understandable for the player, at least for the mechanics. Collecting gems can help the player recall some strange memories that will appear during runs, maybe that will ring a bell for you too.
- A mysterious stele??? I am as surprised as you are, there is this strange rock that build up run after run what could it be there for?
Yes, we are building up little by little the lore of the game, but... no new level or environment? Well, truth is, the path we chose is to develop the best vertical slice of our game we can, meaning almost do all of the annoying work a first, in order to have only contents, new gameplay mechanics, levels and content to add at the end. We want to save the fun for later :) We already have some neat stuff ready to use, but we want to keep that for the release, we want you to discover it in the full game.
To finish, I want to thank you, players, for playing our game. Even if it's still a demo version, seeing that so many player already tested it fills us with strength and joy. I think I can speak for the whole team, what we want at the most is to see our game being played, to see people enjoy themselves with it. So thank you for your support, sincerely. We will try to make the best game we can for you to play it.
For those who never played the game, I hope you will enjoy it :) and for those who already played the previous demos, I hope it will bring enough novelty to keep you interested in this project!
See you later, and keep running!
Hephep, EncreMecanique and Thom.
